MITCHELL’S / NISSAN KNYSNA HEADS HALF MARATHON 21.1 km

10km AND 5km FUN RUN

SATURDAY, 17^TH NOVEMBER 2007

Knysna Marathon Club’s annual Knysna Heads Half Marathon, 10km and 5km Fun Run took place on Saturday, 17^th November 2007.  Over 250 competitors entered the events which were held around Costa Sarda, Leisure Isle and over The Heads.

A huge thank you goes to the events’ main sponsors who were Mitchell’s Brewery and Nissan Knysna with other local sponsors Dazzling Manufacturing Jewellers and Powerade.   

Water tables along the route were well received by competitors as the heat of the day increased.  Thank you to the sponsors of these tables:- Total Knysna, Kwik Spar, Caltex Waterfront Drive and Coca Cola Fortune.

The winning runner for the half-marathon was Vuyolwethu Marityi from Harmony SWD in a time of 1:12:04.  The second male runner, with a time of 1:12:27, was Lindile Tokota for Knysna Marathon Club and third was Fana Principal, also of Harmony SWD in 1:12:44.

Allison Jordaan of Outeniqua Club won the women’s race in 1:31:17.   Harmony SWD’s Annatjie Botes came in second in 1:35:12 with Paola Vignani of Italy coming in third with 1:41:58.  Allison and Annatjie also came first and second (respectively) in the Veteran Women’s category.
