The
98th Bathurst Show will take place from Friday to Sunday 7,8
& 9 April 2006 at the Bathurst Showgrounds.
THE
BEST BATHURST SHOW YET!
This year’s Omnia Bathurst Show promises to be the best yet
with heaps of entertainment, great food, cold beverages and
all your regular favourites!
For the first time ever the Showgrounds will, together with
the Sunshine Coast Motorcross Club, host a premier Motor-X
two-day event. More than 100 riders from all over the
Eastern Cape will burn up the recently reconstructed track
and pull out all the stops to fly over the challenging jumps
to take pole position.
Fantastic news for the littlies – the Fun Fair is back!!!
After an absence of several years the Fun Fair will once
again offer Showground visitors the chance to enjoy a
variety of festive rides. The 4 Wheelers are also going to
be at the Show and the Mini Farm will be open with FAMSA’s
Kids Activity Corner in full swing. Smiley the Clown will
have plenty of magic, fun and games guaranteed to keep you
laughing. And don’t forget to bring along your cossie for
the Giant Water Slide. For the more adventurous, the
Paintball gang will be in their usual spot, armed and ready.
Moms. Don’t forget to enter your babies in the Johnson &
Johnson Baby Competition on Sunday 10:30am at the Baby
Centre. There are great prizes to be won!
Entries to date indicate that the stables, stock pens,
poultry shed and Home Industry Hall will be filled to
capacity. The Horse Show continues to gain popularity with
competitors from as far afield as George already entered. Be
sure to watch the youngest riders put their ponies through
their paces as they compete in the East Cape Children’s
Showjumping Championships. Then there’s the exciting Komatsu
Barrel Racing to watch, as well as Jack Gilfillan and his
team of eight welsh ponies!
The demand for stands this year has exceeded all
expectations and Show visitors are in for a treat with many
new standholders exhibiting their wares and services for the
first time. Once again, the commercial outdoor section will
see a variety of vehicles and farming implements and
accessories on show. A world first will also take place when
the Digalot, a compact multipurpose earthmoving vehicle is
unveiled. Be sure to catch the Elite Stock Sale at 12 noon
on Saturday 8 April followed by the Grand Parade in the
Tractor World Arena. Look out for the EP Skydivers who will
land in the main arena.
Billed as South Africa’s best loved Irish Band, The
Leprechauns will play a variety of sing-along numbers and
ensure that the beer garden rocks on both Friday (Rock ‘n
Roll Party) Saturday (Irish Pub) evenings. Tickets are on
sale at only R30 from the Grahamstown, Port Alfred and
Kenton Tourism offices and these include entry into what is
fast becoming the best agricultural show in the Eastern
Cape. Don’t forget that you can enjoy all three days at the
Show at a discounted price of R45 (R20 for kids) for
Multiday Pass. Entry prices are R30 per adult and R10 per
child under the age 18. Parking is at no charge. See you
there!
