The Honorary Member Club is
a group of Mitchell's Knysna Brewery beer drinkers,
connoisseurs andin a sense also Mitchell's representatives.
They buy their favourite beer directly from our Sales
Office.To become an Honorary Member, contact our sales

How do I become a member?
To become a
member you can:
a)
be nominated by an existing honorary member
b)
be nominated by a member of the Brewery staff or management
c)
apply through the Brewery Sales Office
There will be a R15.00 joining fee to cover the costs of
the membership card.
You will be assigned a ‘mentor’ – either the person who
nominated you for honorary status or an equally
qualified beer peer.
Ultimately this mentor’s evaluation will be a critical
factor when we decide your fate.

There will be a probation period where said prospective
member will be watched closely and his/her consumption
of and dedication to drinking the finest beer on the
planet will be monitored.

Prospective members must purchase 4 litres per week for
the probation period at Sales Office prices.

The prospective member will not be entitled to invite
guests to the Friday Night sessions and any beer
consumed will require a contribution to the honesty box.
After an appropriate length of time, depending on
consumption and loyalty, your progress will be reviewed by
the members and the Brewery and your fate will be decided!
There are three levels of membership, namely:

Different rules and privileges will be applicable to the
various levels while at the Brewery, thus keeping the status
unique.

Lifelong Honorary Member
-
Will be chosen by the Brewery for their loyal support
and history of constant purchases of beer from us, their
ongoing camaraderie shown to other members and to the
Brewery, having participated in the continuance of our
business and that of the other members.

This status will allow the member to invite guests to
the Friday Night sessions. Any beers consumed by the
member and his guests will require a contribution to the
honesty box.

This status will allow the member to invite guests to

Friends of Mitchells Brewery
-
This will apply to people who live outside of Knysna,
Plett, Sedgefield, George area.

Will be selected by the Brewery as a reward for their
loyalty to the Brewery on the basis that they are in
Knysna regularly and when they are in Knysna they
purchase beer from us despite the fact that they are not
‘locals’.

May join Friday Night sessions if available to do so.
Any beers consumed will require a contribution to the
honesty box.

Will be monitored on a yearly basis, failure to purchase
beer regularly in the year will result in membership
being revoked.

There will be a special price for any beer purchased by
these members.
Honorary members and prospective honorary members will be
monitored on a three monthly basis to ascertain whether they
are purchasing the required 4 litres per week to retain
their membership status. If these levels are not
maintained, membership will be reconsidered and the Life
Long Members and the Brewery will make the final decision if
the status is to be revoked or changed. Life Long Honorary
Members will be monitored on a three monthly basis, but
cannot loose their status unless a unanimous decision is
made by the fellow Lifelong members and the Brewery to
change it.
Honorary & Lifelong Members
* You will be charged at wholesale prices per litre
of beer.
* You will receive a 10% rebate at the end of each
Brewery month in the form of free beer. The rebate will be
rounded down to the nearest 500ml e.g. 10 - 14 litres of
beer purchased = 1 litre of free beer / 15 – 19 litres of
beer purchased = 1.5 litres of free beer etc.
* If you need new bottles you can purchase ready
filled bottles at wholesale prices or you can buy new
bottles at the prices listed below.
* You will be able to purchase gift items and
clothing from the Sales Office at wholesale prices.
* If you have a business card we will gladly place
your business details on our web site.
* Friday Nights are open to members until 19:00, this
time may vary according to season, or staff availability.
If you cannot make it on a Friday night you are welcome at
the Brewery on a Saturday morning from 09:00 until 13:00
(please note that the Brewery closes at 13:00 sharp on a
Saturday).
* Holidays: If you are going to be away for an
extended period of time, please let us know as we will make
a note of it and you cannot be penalised for lack of
consumption in that time.
* Non – members may not buy beer on a member’s name
without the member being present or by prior arrangement
with Brewery management.
* Non – members may not join Friday night sessions
unless as an invited guest of the Brewery and/or the
Members. |
